LAMDA Examinations
LAMDALAMDA exams are not compulsory, but many students enjoy achieving the success of passing these highly accredited exams.
Preparation for an examination can:
- Unlock the imagination and creative thinking.
- Develop communication skills.
- Refine technical skills and artistry.
- Promote team-working.
The examinations themselves provide learners with an opportunity to:
- Measure progress against an international standard.
- Contact expert practitioner examiners outside the immediate teaching environment.
- Build self-confidence and self-esteem.
Acquire skill certification for career development. - Receive critical appraisal and guidance for future development.
- Once exams are taken, students will move on to another exam within the LAMDA
syllabus.
UCAS PointS
UCAS points are awarded according to the examination grade taken and the mark (banding) attained.
Please note that points will not be awarded cumulatively. Each examination subject, for example, Speaking Verse and Prose, is classified as a different qualification. Each grade within that subject is ranked as the same qualification but at a different level. This means that if a learner takes Grades 6, 7 and 8 within the same subject, it is only the result that translates to the highest amount of UCAS points that would be submitted.
A learner can accumulate the UCAS points from separate qualifications, for example, from two or more different subjects. For example, a student could take Grade 8 in both Speaking Verse and Prose and Acting, achieve a distinction in both and be awarded 60 UCAS points each in total (30 points for each qualification).
Grade 6-8 are equivalent to AS and A levels, so UCAS points can be gained. Grade 8 Distinction is 30 UCAS points.
It is advisable to check with individual institutions regarding using UCAS points gained from LAMDA Examinations. Entry requirements are at the discretion of each individual university.
